12.26.19 How To: Use Web Analytics
Hey guys, so if you are anything like me today's topic of web analytics might be a topic that is not the most well known. The good news is we can learn together! I found a really good resource to help us gain in knowledge together about web analytics with some more how to tips! Of course these can be found in the video below and on Blue Host too!
#1 - Total Traffic
Lululemon has a traffic rate of 9.31 million visits in the last 6 months! This summer seems about, but you also have to keep in mind that they are a big business. However to put in terms of growth, since their last 6 month rating it is up by almost 50 percent.
#2 - Traffic Sources
For traffic sources this website shows just on a desktop. Lululemon is mostly found by Google searches, roughly 59 percent. From there, people who type in their website and go to it directly make up about 34 percent. The last 7 percent comes from small percentages in referrals, social media, and mail links.
#3 - Traffic Duration
The bounce rate is under 50 percent which is really good. Their rate is at 35.21 percent which means that 64.79 percent go past the first page. This is for sure something that has great appeal.
#4 - Conversion Rate
Overall, I think analytics are super helpful in growing your business. If you want to know more about your website and how people are interacting with you analytics are the way to go! There are so many ways that you can look in to these and they totally have a pay off. From a marketing standpoint it helps you narrow down on what you need to focus on and pour resources into. They are so helpful and give great insight. I highly recommend using them for all of your website needs! (I also hear Google has a great way to look into these).
Thanks so much guys for reading my post. Like always feel free to drop some comments below!

So Blue Host has great information for beginners and I found it really helpful when going through the video and their website! Here are a few things you might want to know if you are looking into using them, or if you just want to know more like me!
Tip 1 - Know What to Track
Web analytics helps you find your total traffic. If keeps track of the amount of people who visit your site and at what times that occurs. This is really helpful because it can show you when your site it more popular. It also gives you a ballpark of who see's your site so can market it better!
Tip 2 - Know How Your Site Was Found
Websites can be accessed in a various amounts of ways. Between links from social media, adds on social media, simple Google searches, or even web referrals it is important to know how it is getting found! This can help with promoting your site and finding where to market it better.
Tip 3 - Know How Long People are on Your Site
This can often be called the bounce rate. Simply put it measures how long someone stays on your site before they click off of it. The lower the rate the better! You want users to click beyond the first rate, not to bounce as soon as they click on it. Once you know your bounce rate you can improve your site to draw people in further!
Tip 4 - Know Your Conversion Rate
A conversion rate is what action is taken in comparison to visitors. This could be email subscriptions or even purchases. It is then taken as a percent of total traffic. The goal is to have a high conversion rate. Even if it's not a purchase a subscription still gets you a possible return! No matter how small a conversion rate is a good thing!
Now that we know what analytics can be used for an example is always really helpful to see! I love Lululemon and decided to look into what their analytics look like. Similar Web gave me good insight to how they rank in these 4 areas.

As far as conversion rate goes there is not one listed on the site. That most likely is something they do not just put out there.
But on another point, Lululemon also has a blog that I suggest checking out!
