12.31.19 How To: Understand Paid Search Marketing

Hey guys! Happy New Years Eve! Today I want to talk to you about what paid search marketing is and why you need to know about it! First of all, one element that is probably most well known of paid search marketing can also be known pay per click. So basically every time someone clicks on the ad there is a cost associated with it. I found some information on Econsultancy that I want to share with you!

Econsultancy dove into a basic over view of what it looks like and gives the benefits and drawbacks. Today I want to give you some of the highlights that I think you need to know!

#1 - Paid Search Marketing Encompasses a Broad Range
Paid Search Marketing is more than just pay per click. It can also include cost per mile (or impression) and cost per action. Although pay per click is the most popular so that will be the one we hit on the most!

#2 - Paid Search Looks
These are things that are listed as either sponsored, ads, or by Google. That means if you Google something the ads relating to that will pop up at the beginning before you find the actual link.

#3 - What is a CPC
CPC = Cost Per Click means that the advertiser pays for the ad by how many clicks they gain. It is basically how it sounds a cost is associated with each click.

#4 - Platform Differences
Google Ads is not always the best because the target audience is not as targeted as other sites. Facebook is more specific than Google, so if you want a more targeted area that is the place to go!

#5 - Top Results
The real reason you should use paid search is because your company shows up at the top of the results. This plays into SEO. By paying you can appear at the top without the work that goes into an SEO. Paid search also lets you know your results instantly. You know exactly how many people click on it because that determines how much to pay.

These are only a few things that are covered on the website. It can be more of a broader topic, but down to the basics it can be defined. You pay to market where people search. It is such a great way to get your name out there!

Diet Coke is great example of this! If you Google Diet Coke you get a long list of ads coming across. This can be from the sponsored ones along with Diet Coke ate the bottom. Yes it is more than just their site, but they also add in their site too it. They not only want you to buy their product from other people, but also from them! They want to be the one you think of when you think of a diet soda! They want to be your soda brand.

Hopefully this information was helpful for you guys today! Enjoy the last day of the year and get those 2020 visions in! Like always feel free to drop a comment below!

xx
Mollie
