01.06.20 - How To: Engage Views With Visual Storytelling

Hey guys happy Monday! Today's topic is Visual Storytelling. When I think of this topic my mind goes straight to Extra Gum. Seriously their commercials are so good, and always have a story to tell. So before I get into the tips and tricks I want to start with the example and give you a video!
I will literally watch this video over and over just because of how sweet it is! The commercial tells a story of how friendship can be started off of just a simple offer of gum. Extra does such a great job of showing this! Now that I started with the example I want to dive into some key things to look at when going into visual storytelling. Visme has a great article about it, so I'm going to summarize it here with a few tips you should check out!
#1 - Make it Relatable
Views connect best when it relates to them. Some good areas to focus on are vulnerability and empathy.
#2 - Make it Engaging
Keeping viewers interested is so important. You want them to pay attention to the whole storyline, not just the first 7 seconds. Everyone has a short attention span, so make it engaging to hook them in!
#3 - Make it Empowering
This helps make viewers feel better! Empowerment is huge right now and people are all about things that make them feel good.
#4 - Make it Have a Purpose
Find something that is bigger than just your product. Find what you are based after and share that!
#5 - Make it Believable
The goal is to make it not feel like an ad (even though it is) and make it feel genuine. Not just gimmick to get them to buy your product.

Hopefully these tips were really helpful! Check out Visme for more info on how to use visual marketing. And watch Extra as much as you want to drive home that story idea! Thanks as always for checking out the blog and feel free to leave a comment below!
xx

I totally agree with the Extra commercials and how they're so interesting and engaging. They do a phenomenal job in both their marketing and advertising departments as well as achieving a good and final commercial.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with how well Extra does with their visual storytelling and they do it with very few words if any and still do a great job of conveying their message.
